How is John handling the whole “I can change your mood” thing? Alltogether a good book and I recommend reading it!

Gay Impressionist Painter 9: No doobt aboot it, my friends. With Mason dealing with his own struggles to move past the death of his partner, John alternately sparks and fights with the arrogant, rude, and smoking hot man.
Each man has friends who help make them real and add complexity to the story. I loved that the writer could change my perception of these characters. There is a problem, he suffers from vertigo and sees the color of peoples emotions above their heads.

View all 6 comments. These relationships are genuine, funny and help us learn more about our main characters. But John sees too much to make things that easy. Let me keep this short. There was the injured jock who lost his career but still had the magnificent body, the taciturn semi-widower with the guilt from the death of his partner, the cocky and vapid friends only interested in appearances and partying, the nice guy who was good looking but not good looking enough for the jock, a fortune teller with a real medium talent, a ghost that had the ability to show up in dreams and write on a computer, light BDSM, characters who had the ability to have porn-star quality sex the first time they had sex, synesthesia, and so many other things that by the time I finished the book all I wanted to do was close my eyes hoping the spinning would stop and hopefully avoid puking I do not accept money as a result of this blog.
I do not endorse anyone or charge fees of any kind for the books I review. I wanted to know what the colors meant. While sex with the hot, moody computer major gives John a rush as heady as diving, Mason’s the only person John’s ever seen surrounded by two distinct colors.
I found the struggles these two men have dealt with in their lives very moving. A sequel would help solve the only small problem I had with ths book – a niggling worry these young men lie last beyond their safe college world.

John isn’t the typical virginal character, all innocent and a total pushover, but can look out for himsel; and the two main characters aren’t falling all over each other – their relationship is swinging regularly from hot and heavy towards cold and distanced, and it takes a while thanks to John and Mason’s issues to get to a more stable ground.
They were immensely happy but a car accident put a sudden stop to that happiness. No additional equipment needed—unless you like that sort of thing. Life, Over Easy K. John is secure and knows what he wants. Even more striking were Mitchell’s descriptions of John’s symptoms, especially his synesthesia.
